About

Tommie is a musician and composer from Cornwall. He holds a diverse background in folk music, electronics, classical music and improvisation. He performs primarily on the accordion, working with a range of instruments from small traditional squeezeboxes to concert free-bass accordions and homemade instruments.

From a young age Tommie was immersed in local Cornish folk, classical and church music, settling on the accordion and piano as his main instruments. He completed his bachelors in Ethnomusicology at SOAS, University of London, specialising in electronic music, and then worked for a number of years on the UK folk circuit with bands such as TEYR and Tatcho Drom. In 2017 he moved to the Nordic Countries to pursue the Nordic Master in Folk Music program, travelling and studying between Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. During this journey he founded the pan-Nordic band Farandi and delved deep into accordion styles, dance traditions, gestural electronics and experimental performance.
